Wedding Videography Checklist
Choosing
the Wedding Videographers
Having beautiful pictures of your wedding is important; however,
technology has provided another excellent way that you can preserve the
joy and beauty of your wedding day. Videography is not being used by
many brides who want more than just a grainy home video of their wedding
to remember their special day. So, why not go ahead and use the best
technology possible to preserve your memories for years to come.
Tips for Choosing a Videographer
It is important that you choose a videographer that is a professional in
the field. You want to be sure that the person you choose will do the
best job possible. The following are a few tips that can help you choose
the perfect videographer for your wedding.
1. A Winning Personality - You will definitely want to look for a
videographer that has a winning personality. The videographers will be
in the background all during your wedding, and before and after it as
well, so you want to be sure that their personality is one that you can
deal with. If at the first meeting you are uncomfortable with the person
or your personalities just do not fit together well, you will want to
continue in your search.
2. Reasonable Rates - When choosing a videographer you will also
want to make sure that the rates they are charging are reasonable. Take
the time to find out what the going rate is for wedding videography and
then check to see if their rates are comparable.
3. Ask for Recommendations - If you are not sure where to find a
quality videographer, you may want to check with friends and family for
recommendations. You may also want to check with your wedding
coordinator to find out if they have any good ideas as well. Usually it
is better to work with someone that you know has done a great job for
someone else.
4. Ask to See Samples - Before making your final decision on a
videographer, be sure that you ask to see some samples of previous
wedding videography they have done. Be sure that it is actually their
work and not the work of someone else within the same company. Seeing
their samples can help you get an idea of their style and whether or not
it is what you are looking for.
5. Check Out the Contract
Once you have picked your videographer, then it is time to start working
on the contract. Do not make the mistake of just blindly signing your
name before you have taken a good look at the contract. The following
are a few important things to check out on the contract before you sign
your name.
- Check the Date - It is very important that you take a look at
the date that is on the contract. The wrong date could accidentally be
put on the contract, and then your videographer would be showing up on
the wrong day. Leave nothing to chance and make sure that they have the
wedding date right on the contract.
- Get the Names - You will also want to be sure that you get the
names of the primary videographer and any assistants that may be coming
with them to your wedding. This way you can refer to them by name and be
sure that the right people are at your wedding.
- Itemized Total Cost - Before you sign on the dotted line you
will also want to be sure that the total cost is on the contract and
that it is itemized as well so you can see how much you are paying and
what you are paying for.
- Guarantee of Backup - Also check and see if there is a
guarantee of a backup camera at your wedding as well. You do not want to
lose all the videography of your wedding because one camera had a
problem.
- Extra Fees - Be sure and take a look at the contract to see if
there are any extra fees. Some videographers will charge you more if
they go overtime, and there may be other extra fees you are not aware of
as well. Make sure you are aware of them so you do not end up forking
out money you did not plan on.
- Dates You Can See Preliminary and the Finished Product - You
will also want to find out when the dates are that you can see the
preliminary video and then the finished product. Check out these dates
on your contract so you know right when they are promising to have them
ready.
Videography is a new and trendy way to make sure that you have memories
of your wedding day that will last forever. Once you find a great
videographer and you sign a contract, you will be on your way to having
a fun and exciting way to document one of the most important days in
your entire life.
